It's really interesting when you consider the significance of this person's work, almost 100 years old, migrated at age 8 from Venezuela. She mentions how her identities as a migrant and mother, as well as someone who cares about the environment, are important to her work.

It's really interesting how she uses the perspective of looking down on her own body to represent a point of view that is rarely seen in art. The light falling over the painting is also different and interesting. She talks about how her focus on her own body is about knowing she can depend solely on herself.

This piece also has a similar perspective, but focuses in on the feet. She also mentions how fruit can be symbolic, and that can be seen in this piece. The apples have a significance with a religious context. The use of patterns in this piece is also interesting.
